Fresh tensions between Israeli officials and the United States have reportedly surfaced when America’s top diplomat said that peace between Israel and the Palestinians would choke off extremism in the Middle East.
US Secretary of State John Kerry infuriated Israeli ministers Thursday when he said the unresolved conflict was fuelling recruitment for extremists in the region.
“There wasn’t a leader I met… who didn’t raise with me spontaneously the need to try to get peace between Israel and the Palestinians, because it was a cause of recruitment and of street anger and agitation,” he said.
If you head over to the Loonwatch website you’ll find an article there entitled: “Jews and Christians Way More Likely than Muslims to Justify Killing Civilians.” In it the writer presents the results of a Gallop Poll in the US which found that Muslim-Americans (21%) were far less likely than their fellow Jewish (52%) and Christian (58%) countrymen to think it is sometimes justifiable to target and kill civilians. (For the record, these numbers were 64% in Mormons and 43% in people with no religion/atheists/agnostics.)
On August 26, Israel and the Palestinian Authority both accepted a cease-fire agreement after a 50-day Israeli assault on Gaza that left 2,100 Palestinians dead and vast landscapes of destruction behind.
The agreement calls for an end to military action by Israel and Hamas as well as an easing of the Israeli siege that has strangled Gaza for many years.
This is, however, just the most recent of a series of cease-fire agreements reached after each of Israel’s periodic escalations of its unremitting assault on Gaza.
Since November 2005 the terms of these agreements have remained essentially the same. The regular pattern is for Israel to disregard whatever agreement is in place, while Hamas observes it—as Israel has conceded—until a sharp increase in Israeli violence elicits a Hamas response, followed by even fiercer brutality.
Last Thursday Rabbi Shalom Lewis of Congregation Etz Chaim in the Atlanta suburb of Marietta, Georgia gave what can only be understood as a call to genocide in his Rosh Hashanah sermon to welcome in the Jewish new year. The sermon, republished in full below, calls for a war on Islam and Muslims worldwide. Lewis says a “holy crusade” against Islam is needed to”exterminate it utterly and absolutely.”
Rabbi Lewis’s bio on the Etz Chaim website says his “religious services are a stimulating, uplifting blend of the past and the present. Whether on the bima or in his office, he generates a caring warmth.” Yet, this is not his first foray into racist and inciteful rhetoric. Three years ago Rabbi Lewis gave a very similar sermon on Rosh Hashanah, again attacking Muslims and comparing them to Nazis. In fact he fashions this speech as a sequel to the earlier one:
The enemy has eyes and ears. Fingers and toes. Speaks with lips. Runs with legs. Eats. Drinks. Has the face of a human being – but, has a much different heart and a much different soul. Three years ago on this bima, on this very same day, standing at this podium, I cried out, “Ehr Kumpt – they are coming.” 3 years later on this bima, on this very same day, standing at this podium, I cry out not “Ehr Kumpt – they are coming,” I cry out, “Ehr daw – they are here.” The fury of ultimate evil is upon us and we must act – not to contain it. Not to degrade it. Not to manage it. Not to tolerate it, but to exterminate it utterly and absolutely.
The phrase “Biblical Israel” often passes on the lips of Republican presidential contenders, representatives of the Netanyahu government, and Israeli settlers. But where exactly is this Israel of the Bible to be found?
Not in the Bible itself. The Hebrew Bible (known to Christians as the Old Testament and to Jews as the Torah or Tanakh) contains five different “maps.” These “maps” aren’t pictures, but lists of boundaries that define the Promised Land. None of them resemble the modern-day “Biblical Israel.” One map — surprisingly found in the book of Joshua, which describes an all-out holy war — suggests a regional federation in which the tribes of Israel overlap and coexist with local inhabitants. Joshua chapter 15, verse 63 even states: “the Jebusites (local inhabitants of Jerusalem) and the People of Judah dwell together in Jerusalem until today.” This not only sounds like contemporary Jerusalem — a mixed city of Palestinians and Israelis — but also like a prophecy of how the division of Jerusalem might give way to dwelling together.
“Public relations” professionals recommend that messages should be tailored to win over particular audiences. The result can be that different things are said to different groups of people. The truth gets distorted; sometimes it is replaced by lies.
I’ve found evidence to show that the European Union resorted to that kind of duplicity while trying to strengthen its economic ties with Israel.
One of the most significant decisions taken in that respect was the European Parliament’s approval of a trade deal with Israel during 2012.
Known as the Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products agreement — or ACAA — its entire purpose was to make life easier for Israeli exporters. Under it, quality checks carried out by Israeli authorities on manufactured goods would automatically be recognized by the European Union. Firms would thereby be spared the expense and hassle of having to undergo fresh checks when goods arrive at their destination.
Whether people are willing to admit it or not, many news broadcasters and owners of News Stations are Extremely Anti-Islam and Pro-Zionist.
It’s for these very reasons that now the ISIS threat has been completely over-exaggerated and blown out of proportion, while at the same time these Media outlets barely ever cover the Genocide in Burma, or the Massacres by the President of Syria.
Have we all forgotten that the same people who are reporting to us about the threat of ISIS were the exact same reporters just a month ago that we all saw Openly Lie about the Gaza War?
And how convenient that right after Israel had witnessed how the entire world had turned against them that right after that ISIS reared it’s ugly head and made a beheading video. It’s almost as if Israel saw that the world needed a reminder why they should hate Muslims and gave the go ahead to ISIS terrorists.
Wallahi things are not as they appear.
Ask any scholar that has worked with the Free Syrian army or other Rebel groups in Syria and they will all attest to the fact that ISIS doesn’t fight against President Bashar Al-Assad’s soldiers. They only fight other Muslims.
An open letter to the BBC’s Director General, written by Palestine solidarity activists, is calling for the removal of BBC journalist Anthony Reuben from all reporting on Palestine following the publication of an online article in which he attempts to sanitize Israel’s killing in Gaza.
Reuben is the BBC’s “Head of Statistics,” a role created in February, he claims in his Linkedin profile, specifically for him.
When he wrote the article, 1,948 Palestinians had been killed in Israel’s assault on Gaza, the majority of them men.
Reuben uses the fact that more men than women had been killed as an opportunity to argue that Israel was carrying out targeted attacks, aimed only at fighting men, and wasn’t pursuing the wholesale slaughter of civilians and the wanton destruction of homes and infrastructure.
He writes: “If the Israeli attacks had been ‘indiscriminate,’ as the UN Human Rights Council says, it is hard to work out why they have killed so many more civilian men than women.”
According to a FoxNews article found here, apparently during the Cairo Negotiations President Abdul-Fatteh Al-Sissi offered Hamas a large chuck of land in the Sinai Peninsula. Now even though this offer has been outright denied by the Egyptian Government as well as Hamas, nevertheless FoxNews keeps pressing this story wanting their viewers to believe that the whole problem of the Palestinian conflict lay in the hand of Hamas and the PLO.
What FoxNews seems to completely overlook is that Gaza itself is already a Refugee camp and that the majority of the Palestinians living there were actually driven out of their homes a few decades before. So the issue here is not with the area of land, but the issue here is with Greed plain and simple.
Let me be perfectly blunt and clear. If there was no Palestine, and Israel had taken all the land there, there is no doubt in my mind that they would right now be creating settlements in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Egypt. If you ask me the Arab governments should be kissing the feet of the Palestinians for having been able to keep the Zionist Israeli government at bay for so long. Because as we’ve seen with Gaza, which off it’s shores has a natural Gas reserve worth over a Billion dollars, if Israel sees any prized land that is worth money they’ll fight tooth and nail to get it. And they have no problem breaking international treaties and human right laws to achieve this.
And the goons at the White House who are nothing more than Gas and Oil corporations in a suit, see no issue with killing and oppressing millions of innocent people so that they can further line their pockets. Just recently Israel has sold Oil Drilling rights to a company who has on their board as an adviser former vice president Dick Cheney and whose main shareholders just so happen to be Jacob Rothschild and Rupert Murdoch.
For those that don’t know the Golan Hieghts is land Israel stole from Syria. At first the main reason they took the land was because of the fresh water that provides over 35 percent of Israel’s clean water supply. Now that there has been natural gas found in the area I am pretty sure Israel will find another reason why they should move deeper and deeper inside of Syria to as they put it, “Defend Their Borders.” – More like Defend their Bank Accounts.
So it doesn’t matter if Sissi offered Palestinians land or not because according to Israel’s track record, unless Sissi can guarantee that the land he’s giving doesn’t have anything of value to the Israelis, then tomorrow the Israeli Army with be once again knocking at their doors. If there is no laws and consequences for a Thief than there is nothing to stop him from stealing.
Israeli propaganda has hit a new low. While the world was still trying to come to terms with the mass deaths in Shejaiya, Benjamin Netanyahu went on CNN to state that Hamas uses the “telegenically dead” to further “their cause.” He added that for Hamas: “The more the dead, the better.” Even while Netanyahu followed the propaganda script, which is to first show sympathy and express remorse, by reducing dead Palestinians to a photo-op he showed how his own mind works.
There is a standard script for how to deal with Palestinian casualties. After Israel killed four boys on the Gaza beach on July 16, the U.S. establishment media fell in line behind Israel’s PR framework: acknowledge the tragedy but blame Hamas. This is exactly what Israeli spokesperson Mark Regev said on Channel 4 News when grilled by the anchor Jon Snow. It is also how the U.S. State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki responded, using the same word-for-word talking points.
